About Us
Firemuzik Women's Fashion About Us
Firemuzik was born from a collision of two passions: the raw energy of underground music and the unapologetic boldness of modern women’s fashion. Founded in 2018 by DJ-turned-designer Lila Voss and textile engineer Kai Reed, our journey began in a tiny East London studio where Lila would sketch garment ideas between DJ sets, inspired by the way basslines vibrate through a crowd and stage lights paint faces in vivid hues. The name "Firemuzik" isn’t just a nod to Lila’s signature fiery techno sets—it’s a promise: clothing that feels as alive as the music that fuels it—pieces that move with the rhythm of a dancefloor, command attention like a guitar riff, and last longer than a one-hit wonder. Our debut collection, "Bass & Thread," featured 20 pieces: leather jackets with laser-cut speaker grille patterns, neon linen shirts dyed to mimic stage strobe lights, and denim jeans with seams stitched in the rhythm of a classic techno beat. It resonated instantly—women didn’t just want clothes; they wanted wearable expressions of their love for music, pieces that told a story of rebellion, creativity, and unfiltered self-expression. From those early designs to our now-iconic "Soundwave Knit" sweaters, "Vinyl Print" dresses, and "Amplifier" outerwear, Firemuzik has stayed true to one core belief: fashion, like music, should be felt first.
Our design philosophy is "Rhythm & Rebel Elegance." We believe great fashion should have the same duality as the best music—structured yet spontaneous, bold yet wearable, nostalgic yet forward-thinking. Every piece starts with a sound: the crackle of a vinyl record, the thud of a kick drum, the melody of a jazz saxophone. We translate these audio moments into tangible design elements using a symphony of materials: stretch denim that moves like a dancer, metallic thread woven to mimic stage lights, and lightweight neoprene that hugs the body like a bassline. Our aesthetic rejects minimalism—instead, we embrace clashing prints (think vinyl album art mixed with soundwave graphs), unexpected textures (leather paired with mesh, sequins with cotton), and colors that pop like a stage spotlight. A leather moto jacket might feature hand-painted lyrics from a cult indie track; a knit sweater could have a 3D soundwave pattern that changes texture when stretched; a midi dress might be printed with the visualizer of a classic electronic song. Our team of 28 includes print designers who turn audio files into fabric patterns, seamstresses trained in performance-wear durability, and a "Sound Stylist" who curates playlists to match each collection. Before a piece joins our lineup, it undergoes 35 quality checks—from testing how well sequins hold up to dancing to ensuring a jacket’s shoulder pads stay structured through a night out—because we know music-inspired fashion needs to keep up with the chaos and joy of real life.
Craftsmanship: Soundwave to Stitch, Beat to Garment
At the heart of Firemuzik is our East London Atelier, a space where the hum of sewing machines blends with the bass from Lila’s vintage record player and the walls are lined with vinyl collections and fabric swatches. Here, we bridge sound and textiles using innovative techniques: our "Audio-Weave" process converts songs into knit patterns (a favorite indie track becomes a textured sweater, a techno anthem becomes a ribbed dress); our "Vinyl Dye" method uses heat-pressed vinyl residue to create one-of-a-kind color splatters on denim; our "Rhythm-Stitch" technique sews seams in time with specific beats, ensuring garments drape with musical precision. We partner with 11 UK-based artisans and factories—from a Birmingham leather workshop that hand-cuts our "Amplifier" jackets to a Manchester mill that spins our soundwave-inspired yarns. Each partner shares our commitment to ethical creativity: our denim is sourced from water-saving factories, our sequins are recycled plastic, and our leather is chrome-free. Our "Soundwave Knit" collection, for example, uses yarn made from recycled cassette tapes and plastic bottles, with each sweater’s pattern mapped to a different genre—jazz for loose, flowing knits, punk for tight, aggressive ribs. Our "Stage Coat" is crafted from recycled leather with laser-etched speaker holes (that actually amplify sound when paired with a portable speaker) and lined with fabric printed with setlists from iconic UK music festivals. We believe craftsmanship is about storytelling: every product page includes a QR code that plays the song that inspired the design, so you’re not just wearing a jacket or a dress—you’re wearing a piece of the music that moves us.
Community: The Firemuzik Soundwave Circle
Firemuzik isn’t just a brand—it’s a community of women who live and breathe music and fashion. Our "Soundwave Circle" program, launched in 2020, connects our customers, artists, and music industry friends. Members receive monthly "Track & Thread" newsletters featuring interviews with our print designers and musician collaborators, DIY tutorials (like how to add soundwave patches to old jeans), and styling tips that blend stage-ready looks with everyday life. We host quarterly "Sound & Style Workshops"—both in our East London Atelier and virtually—where participants learn to turn their favorite songs into custom fabric prints, design leather patches inspired by band logos, or style a "festival-to-office" outfit using Firemuzik pieces. Our social media is a celebration of music and self-expression: we share behind-the-scenes clips of Lila DJing while testing new designs, feature customers wearing our pieces at concerts and festivals (from Glastonbury to small underground gigs), and partner with female musicians for limited-edition collabs (like our recent drop with indie singer-songwriter Elara Blue, featuring dresses printed with her lyrics). One of our most beloved traditions is "Mixtape Moments"—every month, we ask a customer to share a playlist of songs that define their style, then feature their playlist and outfit photos on our blog. It’s a reminder that fashion and music are both universal languages of identity.
Sustainability: Rebel Style, Responsible Choices
We believe rebellion shouldn’t come at the planet’s expense. Our "Sound & Sustainability" promise guides every decision: (a) Material Revolution: We use 90% recycled or sustainable materials. Deadstock fabric—high-quality remnants from luxury brands and music merchandise factories—makes up 40% of our collections, reducing textile waste. Our packaging is 100% plastic-free: garments come in drawstring bags made from recycled concert t-shirts, and shipping boxes are printed with biodegradable ink featuring soundwave patterns. (b) Built to Perform (and Last): We design pieces to withstand the chaos of concerts, festivals, and late nights—reinforced seams, fade-resistant prints, and durable zippers mean they stay in your wardrobe for years, not seasons. We offer a "Repair & Remix" service: if a piece gets damaged, our atelier team will fix it for a small fee (free for Soundwave Circle members) or help you customize it into something new (like turning a worn t-shirt into a crop top with added soundwave embroidery). We also have a "Vinyl Swap" program—bring in gently used Firemuzik items, and we’ll give you store credit to put toward new pieces, then refresh and resell the swapped items in our "Encore Collection" (all proceeds support female-led music charities). (c) Music for Good: We donate 5% of sales from our "Amplifier" collection to organizations that support women in music—funding DJ workshops, studio time for emerging artists, and safe spaces at festivals. In 2023, we launched our "Girls on Deck" scholarship, which awards three female musicians a year with funding to create a custom Firemuzik capsule collection inspired by their music.
Looking Ahead: Turning Up the Volume
Our vision for the future is to deepen the bond between music and fashion. We’re currently collaborating with a London-based sound studio to create "Interactive Soundwave" pieces—garments embedded with tiny sensors that play music when touched (think a sweater that hums a jazz melody when you adjust the collar, or a skirt that plays a techno beat when you walk). We’re also opening a pop-up "Sound & Style Lab" in Manchester, where customers can design their own soundwave-inspired pieces and attend live DJ sets while they wait for fittings. Most importantly, we want Firemuzik to be a brand that grows with you—whether you’re wearing our vinyl-print dress to a concert, our soundwave knit to a coffee shop, or our amplifier jacket to a festival. As Lila always says, "Music makes us feel alive, and fashion should too—no rules, no apologies, just pure, unfiltered energy."
At Firemuzik, we invite you to join the Soundwave Circle. Whether you’re drawn to the bold prints, the music-inspired details, or the rebel spirit, we hope our clothing makes you feel like the best version of yourself—confident, creative, and ready to take on the world (or the dancefloor).
